Just a little update – I’ve been selected for the role of Hub and Operations Manager for Wales working for Skateboard GB. This is really exciting and my new role involves leading Cardiff’s Pipeline Project, held at Spit and Sawdust Skatepark every two-weeks. I will also be promoting skateboarding coaching and running some events throughout Wales. I will work to stimulate and promote more skateboarding and better skateboarding in Wales.
The Pipeline Project serves as a meeting point for some of the best up-and-coming skateboarders across the country to meet and skate every two weeks. This creates an exciting atmosphere of progress and ‘stoke’ that infectiously drives all participants forward.
The other Pipelines across the UK are held at Bay 66 in London, Flo skatepark in Nottingham, Mount Hawke in Cornwall, The Loading Bay in Glasgow and Graystone Skatepark in Manchester.
I will work with the skaters to help inspire new and improved performance, work on competitive elements of their skateboarding, support them at events and try to generally create an exciting vibe at the sessions.
In coming months planning will take place for some events taking place in Wales, which will feature and show some of the best Welsh skateboarding talent.
Things will stay very much the same for Skateboard Academy UK, we will still be running our usual sessions at schools, working with councils at youth clubs and at skateparks and generally getting anyone who wants to skate out there and hungry for more – so don’t fret!
A big thank you to Skateboard GB for taking me on and recognising my work and passion for skateboarding. I also want to thank everyone who has supported me and Skateboard Academy UK over the past 3+ years, I wouldn’t be where I am now without all of you.
See you in 2024 for some awesome skateboarding!!
-Sam
